america recycles day

Recycling has come a long way since its inception. Now, we have programs across the country to recycle paper, plastic, aluminum, cell phones and even computers, as well as a wealth of consumer goods made out of recycled content. All of which prompts us to ask, are you recycling the old way, or the new way? So how does recycling work in N.C.? Check out the North Carolina recycling plastics loop here.

+Lead by example in their neighborhood by recycling
+Recycle batteries, cell phones and other e-waste
+E-mail elected officials asking them to increase funding for recycling
+Tell five friends that recycling is the easiest thing they can do to stop global warming

Everyone that electronically signs the pledge will be registered to win state-wide recycled content prize packs. Recycled content prizes include picnic supplies, lawn and garden items, school and office supplies, a pet bed, toddler toys and a metal fire pit! To see pictures of the prizes, please click here. Winners will be notified by e-mail after 11/15/09.

Recycled Content Products

Look on the package to determine if a product contains recycled material. If it has a logo like the one on the left, it is a reminder to recycle the product. If it has the logo on the right, then the product has recycled content. Check out the great educational recycled content classroom kits on our Resource List that can help drive home the message.

When buying recycled products make sure you know the difference!
