Savoy Restaurant and Martini Bar is an upscale dining and beverage establishment serving a wide variety of seafood, pasta, prime meats and drinks with a Mediterranean flair. Approximately 150 patrons are served daily at Savoy.
Savoy started recycling beginning with the restaurant’s opening in the year 2000 due to owners Bill and Terry Erickson’s interest in creating an environmentally friendly restaurant.
The restaurant recycles several commodities, including office paper, corrugated cardboard, glass bottles, aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Materials are collected in the kitchen area in blue bins. Paper generated in the office is collected in boxes. When the bins and boxes are full, they are taken to the recycling pick-up area behind the restaurant and dumped into larger totes and are picked up by a local recycling company.
Savoy pays $50 per month for recycling services.
The most challenging issue for Savoy is the chore of taking the bins out back because they fill up quickly.
