N.C. Electric Cooperatives Recycling Services

A number of North Carolina’s 26 Electric Cooperatives provide their members with CFL recycling opportunities.

The following cooperatives informed DPPEA that they have a CFL recycling bin in their offices for their members to use. Check with your cooperative to see if it provides this service.

Roanoke Electric Cooperative

Other recycling opportunities provided by electric cooperatives:

Blue Ridge EMC partners with Watauga County to fund the county’s CFL recycling efforts.

Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative partners with Dare County Solid Waste who provides a collection point for all fluorescent lamps at the Buxton recycling center.

Roanoke Electric Cooperative provides a recycling bucket at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church (per its request) for its members to conveniently dispose of CFLs. Roanoke also works closely with ACE Hardware in Ahoskie, N.C. were a recycling bucket is located. This service is free to anyone in the community.
