Electronics Recycling
In recent years, electronic products such as televisions and computers have become an increasing part of the
waste stream. As new products become more available and affordable to consumers, there is also an increase in the
number of used electronics needing disposal. These products not only take up space in the landfill but can also
contain potentially harmful components such as lead, cadmium and mercury that contribute to the toxicity of landfill
leachate. Local government programs such as electronic collection events and/or regular recycling programs can help
to reduce the quantity of these materials disposed of in the landfill.
