White Goods

Major appliances, frequently referred to as white goods, include products such as refrigerators, stoves and washing machines. These items are banned from disposal in North Carolina. Legislation passed in 1993 placed a disposal fee on white goods and provides resources to counties to implement a comprehensive management program for these materials. Quarterly distributions of these fees provide counties ongoing support to handle these products.
