MISSION: Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance (DPPEA)

To provide free, non-regulatory technical assistance and training on methods to eliminate, reduce or recycle wastes before they become pollutants or require disposal.

OBJECTIVES: Green Plan for the Food Service Industry

  • Promote and encourage the development of waste reduction and recycling programs by North Carolina food service establishments
  • Reduce the overall amount of solid waste going to landfill
  • Reduce sanitary sewer overflows caused by oil and grease discharges by promoting proper management
  • Reduce food waste going to landfill by promoting food donation, composting and garbage feeding programs
