Numerous supporting activities are associated with truck fleet operations. Each of these activities has its associated environmental aspects and impacts defined in the ISO 14001 standard as:
Environmental Aspect – “Element of an organization’s activities, products or services that can interact with the environment.”
Environmental Impact – “Any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly or partially resulting from an organization’s activities, products or services.”
It is important to keep these definitions in mind when considering some of the following stages in wood furniture manufacturing and the various components of each. (Please note that these are just the activities and aspects selected for examination; in individual facilities, the list may vary a great deal.)
