This draft document provides technical background information on the Industrial Waste Air (IWAIR) Model developed in support of the draft Guide for Industrial Waste Management. The IWAIR Model and this Technical background Document were developed for use in evaluating inhalation risks. With a limited amount of site-specific information, IWAIR can estimate whether specific wastes and management practices may pose an unacceptable risk to human health. The IWAIR model was developed in conjunction with the draft Guide for Industrial Waste Management and is undergoing a six-month public comment period.

This draft document describes how to use the Industrial Waste Air Model (IWAIR). This draft Users' Guide identifies the system requirements for running the IWAIR, identifies stepwise guidance for installing the program and introduces the user to program screens and navigational tools. The Users' Guide also assists the user in selecting the appropriate calculation method for estimating inhalation risks. The Users' Guide also contains a troubleshooting section. The Users' Guide was developed to accompany the Guide for Industrial Waste management and is out for a six-month public comment period.
