Environmental Sustainability Report
Update - August 2001

The mission of the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety (CC&PS) is to enhance the quality of life of North Carolinians by controlling crime and ensuring public safety through:

  • Planning and coordinating response, recovery and mitigation efforts in the event of a disaster
  • Fostering cooperation among criminal justice agencies
  • Enforcing certain regulations and laws within our jurisdiction
  • Managing resources to support crime prevention efforts
  • Assisting innocent victims of crime

The department's environmental sustainability plan was developed under the supervision of Eric Tolbert, the department's environmental sustainability officer. The department is a member of the WasteWise Task Force, with Deputy Secretary Billy Ray Cameron serving as the department's representative.

CC&PS continues its commitment to environmental stewardship through participation in the WasteWise Program and departmental recycling efforts. The CC&PS report reflects updates of ongoing and future environmentally sustainable activities.
